UNICEF

Adopt a doll and save a baby

UN Children's Fund Project - UNICEF; Czech office

The aim of the project is to raise funds for UNICEF's worldwide vaccination campaigns using a symbol that all children and adults know - dolls. The doll represents a real baby who will be vaccinated against six fatal childhood illnesses (measles, diphtheria, black cough, tetanus, tuberculosis, polio) as part of the UNICEF vaccination campaign in developing countries.

Since 2002, when the Panenka project was launched in the Czech Republic, 30,000 dolls were produced by the general public. Dolls are made by children in elementary schools, seniors in homes, volunteers and important personalities.

UNICEF then sells these dolls - offering them as a symbolic adoption.

BABY ECOSOC

When the sun appeared in the sky,

The first morning of the world was the most beautiful of all.

This first light is transmitted on all newborns

And illuminates the hearts of everyone,

Who wants every child to keep this first light.

And here in New York, in ECOSOC, one day of hard work

About Children, this light flew across the air,

Leaving in the middle of the United Nations blue flag

The golden mark of the "ECOSOC Baby".

This doll created by Pierre Saint Blancat was sold into auction on 11 December 2017 in New York at the Bohemian National Home.
